Privacy Policy

The short version: AmbientFocus collects no data. The long version is below, and it is still short.

What the extension collects

Nothing. The AmbientFocus Chrome extension has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, and no servers of its own. It never transmits your activity, your browsing, or your settings anywhere.

What the extension stores, and where

To do its job, AmbientFocus keeps a small amount of data in Chrome's extension storage on your device:

  • Your settings: selected soundscape, custom mix, volume, and session preferences.
  • Your progress: session counts, focus minutes, goals, and streaks.

If you are signed into Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome may sync this data between your own devices through your Google account, the same way it syncs bookmarks. That is a Chrome feature under your control; AmbientFocus has no access to your Google account. Removing the extension removes its data.

Permissions the extension uses

  • storage: saves your settings and progress in your browser.
  • offscreen: plays audio in the background while you work.
  • tabs: shows the break timer on your open tabs during breaks.
  • host permission: the break timer is a small card drawn on the pages you have open, which requires access to those pages.

That host permission is used for exactly one thing: displaying the break countdown card. AmbientFocus does not read, record, or change page content, and nothing about the pages you visit is stored or transmitted.

This website

ambientfocus.app uses Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand how visitors find the site. This applies to the website only, never to the extension. These cookies stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner, and declining keeps the site fully functional. Your choice is saved in your browser; to change it later, clear this site's data and the banner will ask again.

Changes and contact

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page. For questions, email [email protected] or visit the support page.
